It was a sad Day for the internet when google, created the Penguin algorithm to combat black hat SEO. I think in the long run, this will help people view good superior, non spam content. And that's what we need, better content, that makes us think. Instead of feeling sold too, or manipulated or spammed. I checked some of my sites the other day on linkpopulairty.com my longest held domain is melodylanebranson.com and it went from several pages of links to no links at all. And my other site, bransonisfun.com has more links, and is a newer site.
I guess when I was writing the content for Bransonisfun.com, I did all the linking right on the articles and married them to the site. So that approach either was after Google made its changes, or I built that site the right way.
I feel for all the people out there who lost a ton of back links to their websites. But google has a new way to judge the multiverse that is the internet. Niche sites won't rank so well, and when you have multiple Nich websites designed to be place breakers (No 1 on google rankings) google might black hat them.)If a large amount of spam is coming from one isp, google may in deed block it as well.
So become an expert starting with one site at a time and build. With google's new way of approving or disaproving of content, its a dream of making things better. Better content, a better audience and more money to be made by advertizers with a better qualified audience. So no more of this creating 10 or 15 niche websites, and spraying them with ads, and hoping for the best. Google may place a black hat on your head.
Fire your internet specialist, if they aren't able to answer your questions, on a consistent up to date level, about how google will rank your site. That's a pretty easy thing they need to know. And ask them how they are going to get you a top the google heap. If they can't answer these questions, then fire them. Here are several questions to ask them
1. Are they still using or going to use links to rank your site?
2. What is the current state of SEO and what have they been using for SEO?
3.What is their take on social media?
4. Do they think its a great source to generate traffic? (And it is, its a hot source) An article coming soon on how to do that as well.
5.Finally, how with they monetize your site to make additional monies for you? Or is it all about how their going to rank the site?
Just some food for thought, to ask your SEO specialist, next time you see them.
