So I guess that they call it the blues, time on my hands, and time spent with you. Elton John had it right, I guess. Or it's subject to interpretation. But Branson has always had the blues, it's just been very quiet. Known more for Bluegrass, than Blues, the art form is here, or not very far away. Since I'm always talking about how long I've been here, which I probably say too much. The blues has walked across Branson for over the last 27 years. When Branson was in it's boom phase, it had a lot of Blues. From Mesa Mitchell, performing at local clubs often, to the Nace Brothers, to the Purple Skunk funk band. Branson was a club town. Now the Blues has turned to Barbeque and BlueGrass out at Silver Dollar City. Not hard to fathom as Branson has become a family town or never left over the last 30 years.bransonisfun.com
The Blues brothers still tear the House down at Legends in Concert every night, and that is no joke. Worth a shot to take a look at their performance. With all the flips, splits and Harmonica playing. From time to time there is a club here and there, that is worth a stop in, that might carry a band or two playing some great blues. Also Springfield, mo boasts several great local bands, that sing and play the blues. So if Branson is known for Bluegrass and Country, it still has a foot in the Blues.
